Balls

face
This weekend I made a cheese ball and bourbon balls. Yes, it's that ballsy time of year. I took the cheese ball to a party where there was already too much cheese. The bourbon balls don't have enough bourbon in them. Despite these seasonal setbacks, I don't find The Holidays nearly as depressing as I used to. I even postponed my trip to Seattle so that I can attend two parties next weekend. I guess in a way I've given up, but in another way I've become detached enough so that holiday rituals don't bother me.

In related news, this does not surprise me: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8931435/Cheerful-stores-drive-away-stressed-Christmas-shoppers-experts-warn.html

Bad cheer
Tonight you fled from a store without buying what you needed, because of its abhorrently happy music. In order to promote frugality, we should all urge stores to crank up the carols and double the glitter.

Re: Bad cheer
Someone must have heard me complaining, because by the time we were checking out they had switched from Xmas cheer to "Bloody Well Right," so I felt bad about not buying body wash (I'll feel even worse in the morning when I have nothing to wash my body with).

Are bourbon balls like lollies, or are they like...some sort of barbecued finger food?

They're chocolatey. Most are made with graham cracker or vanilla wafer crumbs, but my graham crackers had disappeared, so I had to improvise. A lot. Now they have to ripen for a week in the fridge before I try one.
